Lenni Nouchi’s fine summer tour ended in the treatment room. A starter for France against Japan (42-15) on Saturday 18 July, the Montpellier back-rower first went through a head injury assessment early in the match, before giving way shortly after the hour. Hurt following a tackle in the 63rd minute, he could not get back up or put weight on his left foot, and left the Tokyo pitch supported by the medical staff.
The MHR captain (22, eight caps) has a left ankle injury whose severity has yet to be established. A sprain has been mentioned, without confirmation at this stage. A frustrating end for a player who will, in three weeks, have confirmed his place in Fabien Galthié’s plans.
