Roddy Grant is no longer an assistant coach at Glasgow Warriors.
Glasgow Warriors confirmed this week that assistant coach Roddy Grant has left the club with immediate effect “following the conclusion of an internal process”. Citing confidentiality, the Scottish side gave no further details.
No replacement this season
In a short statement, Glasgow said Grant would not be replaced for the remainder of the 2026/27 season and that the existing coaching structure would stay in place. Under head coach Franco Smith, Nigel Carolan (attack) and Scott Forrest (defence) continue in their roles, supported by academy coaches Shade Munro and Duncan Weir. Grant, 39, had worked with the forwards since the summer of 2025, with a remit for the breakdown and contact. He was previously assistant to Richard Cockerill with Georgia, after five seasons at Ulster.
A former Edinburgh flanker
Born in Botswana, Roddy Grant made 140 appearances for Edinburgh between 2008 and 2016 and played for Scotland Sevens. His exit comes with Glasgow unbeaten in the URC after four rounds, with three wins and a 33-33 draw against Ulster, and second in the table. The Warriors host the Lions on Friday.
