The key numbers ahead of round 9 of Pro D2, on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October.
Provence Rugby open round 9 of Pro D2 in Dax on Thursday night with eight wins from eight, level on points with Oyonnax at the top of the table. The leaders host Soyaux-Angouleme on Friday, while winless Nevers try to get their season going against Brive.
Provence head for a fortress
No Pro D2 side had won its first eight matches since Pau in 2014-15. That run ended in round 9 with a 15-6 defeat at Mont-de-Marsan. Provence have won all four of their away games (Colomiers, Valence Romans, Soyaux-Angouleme, Nice) and beat Beziers 54-3 last Friday.
Dax are the mirror image. They have won all four games at Maurice-Boyau (183 points scored, 84 conceded) but have not taken a single point on the road: four defeats and 229 points conceded, including 49-7 at Soyaux-Angouleme last Friday. When Provence last visited Dax, on 20 February 2026, the hosts won 33-21.
Leaders host fourth
Oyonnax lost their unbeaten record at Montauban (24-23) but stay top on points difference (+158 against +115 for Provence). They have won all four home games, scoring at least 47 points each time. Soyaux-Angouleme have yet to win away this season (one draw at Biarritz, two defeats). Oyonnax won the last meeting 23-11 in Angouleme in January 2026.
Nevers still chasing a first win
Nevers have lost all eight matches, three of them at home. Their four points all come from losing bonuses picked up in the first four rounds. Brive arrive on a run of three straight defeats (Montauban, Grenoble, Narbonne) but have won twice away, at Agen and Aurillac. Brive beat Nevers 31-29 in May 2026.
The rest of the round
Montauban have won all four games at Sapiac, Oyonnax included, while Narbonne have taken just one point away from home (a losing bonus at Provence, 47-42). Their last meeting on record was the promotion play-off on 2 June 2024, won 20-19 by Montauban in Narbonne.
Agen have won three in a row (Dax, Nevers, Nice) and travel to Colomiers, who have lost all five away games but won two of three at home. Colomiers won 18-8 at Agen in January 2026.
Grenoble are on a five-match winning run and visit Beziers, beaten in their last two outings. Beziers won the last meeting 26-17 in February 2026.
Biarritz are unbeaten at home (three wins, one draw) and host Valence Romans, still without an away win in four attempts, with two losing bonuses. Valence Romans won the last meeting 15-9 in February 2026.
Aurillac have won their last three games and visit Nice, who have won two of four at home. Aurillac won 29-18 in Nice in February 2025.
