Almost ten years ago to the day, Patricio Fernandez scored 30 points at Brive, the high point of his time at Clermont.
On October 30, 2016, the Argentine scored two tries, four conversions and four penalties in a 40-16 win. He finished that season with 101 points and five tries in 14 Top 14 games, and Clermont took the title by beating Toulon 22-16 in the final.
“Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey. I keep the best memories,” he added on Saturday.
Four seasons at Clermont, five clubs in France
Developed in Rosario, capped twice by the Pumas and also a sevens player, he played 50 Top 14 games and 14 European games for Clermont, where he also won the Challenge Cup in 2019. Injuries then slowed his career. He moved on to Lyon and Perpignan, then Mont-de-Marsan in the Pro D2, where he played 32 games in two seasons.
His final stint at Chambéry, in the Nationale, ended in the semi-finals: 17 games and 32 points. He finishes with 152 games for his five French clubs.
