Nantes score, Graulhet concede the least

The two unbeaten sides in Nationale 2 could hardly be more different. Stade Nantais beat Mâcon 45-12 and have scored 102 points in three rounds, the best total in their pool. Graulhet won 18-15 against Saint-Jean-de-Luz and have conceded just 53, the lowest total in theirs, without ever collecting a try bonus point.

Nantes have 15 points, Graulhet 14, and nobody else has three wins.

Six teams passed 40 points

Attack ruled this round. Tyrosse beat Valence-d’Agen 55-18, Aubenas saw off Tricastin 52-17, Rumilly won 50-19 against Drancy, Floirac 46-38 at Saint-Médard, Nantes 45-12 against Mâcon and Salles 42-7 against Stade Métropolitain. 10 of the 12 games produced more than 40 points in total.

The 46-38 at Saint-Médard was the highest-scoring game of the round, with 84 points between the two sides. In total, the 12 games produced 656 points, and only three teams won away from home.

Three games decided by three points or fewer

At the other end of the scale, the round delivered three tight finishes. Servette Genève beat Annonay 23-22, Graulhet won 18-15 against Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and Langon went to Marmande and won 23-20.

Mauléon also sprang a surprise by beating Auch 19-13, even though Auch arrived with two wins from two games and 100 points scored.

Four clubs still without a win

Four teams have yet to win after three rounds: La Seyne and Tricastin in Pool 2, Mâcon and Saint-Médard in Pool 1.

La Seyne have the weakest attack in either pool, 30 points in three games, including a 5-36 defeat at Peyrehorade.

Saint-Médard are the opposite case. With 89 points scored, they have the fifth-best attack in their pool, ahead of Servette Genève and their two wins. But they have conceded 125, the heaviest total in Pool 1, and that is what leaves them bottom.

The table published by the French federation (FFR) on Monday morning shows the same totals, with one exception: Rumilly and Drancy are still listed on two games, because their match on 20 September had not been recorded. Rumilly won it 50-19, scoring seven tries to three, which earns them the win and a try bonus point.
