The Sharks ended their European tour with a third win from three, after Lyon in the Challenge Cup and Cardiff in the URC.

On Saturday, October 31, the rain turned the game into a defensive battle. Gianni Lombard opened the scoring after a Zekhethelo Siyaya kick; the 19-year-old was voted player of the match by the fans. Munster’s only reply was a JJ Hanrahan penalty just before the break (5-3).

Lombard made it 8-3 in the 53rd minute. Three minutes later Ox Nche was yellow-carded. The Sharks answered at once: Emile van Heerden stole a lineout, Nick Hatton was stopped near the line and Ivan van Zyl, just on, finished in the 58th minute. Lombard converted from the touchline.

Munster’s low point
