ASM Clermont Auvergne’s recruitment is taking shape. According to our information, the Auvergne club are about to sign Tevita Ratuva (29), Brive’s Fijian lock, who is out of contract this summer. A significant addition to replace, in numbers at least, his compatriot Peceli Yato, who is on his way to Perpignan.
Capped 11 times by the Flying Fijians, Ratuva (1.98 m, 122 kg) has chosen to continue his career in France despite approaches from Super Rugby. Developed at UBB and a former Scarlets player in Wales, he got his career back on track at Brive under Jeremy Davidson in 2021.
A powerful player, renowned for his ability to create something after contact in the mould of Leone Nakarawa, Ratuva has also had a few dips this season, picking up two red cards for high tackles. Suspended, he is not expected to play again until the very end of the Pro D2 season. Clermont are therefore taking a calculated gamble on a player as explosive as he is unpredictable.
