It was expected, and now it is official: Jon Echegaray will wear the colours of UBB until 2027. Initially contracted until 2026, the young full-back has extended his deal with the Gironde club by a year, according to our information. Excellent news for Bordeaux-Bègles, who are securing one of their most promising talents.

Aged just 19, Echegaray has been impressing since making his Top 14 debut in February. In six appearances, he has scored as many tries and made his mark in the Champions Cup, where he played his first European match last weekend. A former Biarritz Olympique player, where he was developed between 2019 and 2023, Echegaray had at one point considered a loan in Pro D2 at the start of the year. In the end, he chose to establish himself in Top 14 and to continue his rise in Bordeaux.

Already a U20 Six Nations winner with France U20, he is described by Christophe Laussucq as “still a work in progress but very promising” and is starting to win over the Bordeaux public. A future crowd favourite, and part of the club’s future.
