A look back at round 5 of Federale 2, played on 17 and 18 October.

Four clubs made it five wins from five in Federale 2 this weekend, while five others who were still unbeaten going into round 5 suffered their first defeat.

Five unbeaten records fall

Lons-le-Saunier, Saint-Priest, Quillan Limoux, Millau and Bazas had all won their first four games. None of them got past round 5. In pool 2, Lons-le-Saunier were well beaten at Rillieux-la-Pape (34-15) and Saint-Priest lost at Saint-Jean-de-Bournay (25-18). The losing bonus point they took from that trip is enough to keep them top, one point clear of Rillieux.

In pool 4, Quillan Limoux lost at Prades (20-10) and hand first place to XV Corbieres, narrow winners over Villefranche-de-Lauragais (18-16). In pool 6, Millau went down at Arpajon (32-29) despite a Lupumlo Mguca brace. Bazas were caught and passed at home by Mugron (40-42). Merignac, 33-20 winners over Arcangues-Bassussarry, go top of pool 7 on points difference ahead of Hasparren.

Gennevilliers, Rodez, Le Rheu and Rieumes still perfect

Four sides now have five wins from five. Gennevilliers scored 64 points against Vincennes (64-14), with braces for Flavien Guerrier and Lucas Godefroy, and match last season’s perfect start, as do Le Rheu, who won at Maisons-Laffitte (35-19) thanks to a Robin Lechevallier brace. Rodez are alone at the top of pool 6 after beating Decazeville (40-13), having lost their fifth game last season.

At Rieumes, Mathis Donini came off the bench wearing 22 and scored five of his side’s six tries against Oursbelille (46-25), four of them after the break. He now has six tries this season, level with Anthony Baron (Beaumont) and Mosese Pepa (La Roche-sur-Yon). Rieumes had not won their first five games since 2022-23. Grasse are the other unbeaten side after winning at Vinay (21-16), their only blemish being a 9-9 draw at Aubagne.

Servian-Boujan post the biggest margin of the season

Servian-Boujan beat Montelimar 59-8, led by a Johan Burguillos hat-trick, the widest margin in Federale 2 this season, just ahead of Gennevilliers’ 64-14 on the same weekend. Meyzieu (51-3 against Villefranche-sur-Saone, a Killian Litim brace), Argeles-Gazost (50-8 against Navarrenx) and Roubaix (64-28 against Sarcelles, braces for Clement Unique and Nathanael Cambier) also went past 50 points.

At the other end, three clubs got their first win: Salanque Cote Radieuse against Caussade (20-19), Ger-Seron-Bedeille against Leguevin (22-21) and Levezou Segala at Nontron (33-27), with two tries from Adrien Frayssinhes. Caussade, with a single win, already have four losing bonus points.
