The victim of a cruciate ligament rupture suffered during the match against Ireland in the Six Nations, French rugby’s superstar saw his season cut short as early as March. He indicated at the time that he was targeting a return “at the end of November” at the earliest.

This weekend, questioned in front of the PSG TV cameras at the Parc des Princes for Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Auxerre, Antoine Dupont gave an update on his knee. Dupont said: “End of November or start of December, it will not be before that date.” He added that his rehabilitation was going “well” even if “it is still a long process“, and that he wanted to “be patient” in order to come back in the best possible condition, all the more so as this is his second cruciate ligament injury (the first dating back to 2019).

Even though he has been following a progressive programme for several months, his comeback cannot be rushed. The aim is to protect the length of his career and avoid any relapse. In terms of scheduling, Dupont could make his return either in a Top 14 match or as early as the start of the Champions Cup, depending on the condition he has reached by then.
