The story was revealed after the event by Pumas head coach Felipe Contepomi. On Sunday, Tomas Albornoz, Argentina’s fly-half, had to go through a head injury assessment. Nothing unusual so far, especially as the match against England was intense and fierce.
The problem is that the Treviso fly-half’s smart mouthguard was in fact in his hands at the time, as he applauded a passage of play. On the bench, the call was then made to put Albornoz through a 15-minute assessment.
