Are Racing 92 losing their fortress? Two home games, two defeats

Racing 92 turned their home matches into a fortress in 2025-26. Two home rounds this season, two defeats, and a manager pointing at the relocations.

The comparison is brutal. In 2025-26 Racing 92 played thirteen regular-season matches at home and won twelve, their only defeat coming on 10 May against La Rochelle (24-26). This season they have played two and lost both.

Twelve from thirteen, then none from two

The contrast is not only in the results. At home Racing conceded 24.7 points per match last season, a figure steady on 2024-25. They are conceding 34 across their first two home games, with the 31-48 handed to Lyon and then the 17-20 against Bayonne.

Five tries conceded per home match

Racing have conceded five tries per match across their two home games, against 3.2 last season, and they score only 2.5 at home now, against 4.8 last year. Neither discipline nor tackling explains the swing, though: they concede 11 penalties per home match against 10.3 last season, and they miss 16.5 tackles against 25.1, with a success rate up from 84.5 to 87.2 %.

The two matches did not fail the same way. Against Lyon the defence gave in: 86 tackles made, 23 missed, eight tries conceded. Against Bayonne it held, with 139 tackles made, ten missed and only two tries conceded, but the attack stopped at 17 points.

One win this season, and it came away

Racing shipped 112 points in their first two matches, 64 of them at Bordeaux-Bègles. Their only win came at La Rochelle, away from home. After four rounds they are thirteenth with five points and the worst difference in the league, minus sixty-nine.

Only four matches at Nanterre

The club is playing most of its home fixtures away from the Plénitude Arena, unavailable this season. Créteil hosts the majority, with a trip to Le Mans planned, and Patrice Collazo makes no secret of it.

We know that until April we are going to play almost eight months out of eleven away from home. For now we have not set ourselves up to be competitive in Créteil. And we are going to have to do it quickly.
