According to L’Équipe, the Gironde club and their wing have agreed an extension until 2029, with the official announcement expected in the coming days. Nothing has been signed yet. The player’s current contract runs until June 2027, and two obstacles had slowed talks: the salary cap, which limits UBB’s room for manoeuvre, and the player’s wish to compete at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, as Antoine Dupont did in Paris before him.
Steady progress since 2021
Bielle-Biarrey is 23 and has five Top 14 seasons behind him. His output has never dropped from one year to the next.

That makes 64 tries in 94 matches for Bordeaux, across all club competitions. Last season was his most productive, with ten tries in eight Champions Cup matches, the year the club won their second European title.
More tries than matches for France
The most telling figure lies elsewhere. Since his first appearance at the 2023 World Cup, Bielle-Biarrey has played 27 matches for France and scored 29 tries.

The Six Nations accounts for most of them: one try in 2024, eight in 2025, nine in 2026. Those last two editions earned him the player of the championship award.
A deal that points to others
Again according to L’Équipe, the wing’s extension is not the only one UBB are preparing: five other players whose contracts expire in June 2027 are also involved.
Yet the club go into the new season weakened up front. Jefferson Poirot, who injured his knee in training on Tuesday, will miss six to eight weeks and announced straight afterwards that this season will be the last of his career. UBB host Racing 92 on 5 September.
