The game of musical chairs goes on. Hit by injuries, the France staff have had to make choices before announcing on Friday the list of 42 players who will prepare for the match in Scotland.
Among the backs, first of all, Romain Ntamack is missing. The Toulouse fly-half looks set to miss the rest of the Six Nations, and will not play for Toulouse against Montauban either. “He isn’t fit,” the red and black management said on Friday.
At scrum-half, on the other hand, La Rochelle’s Nolann Le Garrec returns. He had missed the start of the Six Nations with a hamstring injury. He comes in for Pau’s Daubagna on a like-for-like basis. In the midfield, Bordeaux-Bègles pair Yoram Moefana and Nicolas Depoortère are in the list, having also been injured for the last two matches.
Priso, Tatafu, Laclayat…
Barassi, Gourgues, Brau-Boirie and Gailleton are still there. Injured before the Italy match, Matthieu Jalibert is still named and should return against Scotland.
Up front, there are several changes to note. In the back row, Alexandre Roumat is part of the get-together at Marcoussis. But it is in the front row that the turnover is greater. Cyril Baille drops out of the squad, with Toulon’s Dany Priso replacing him. Bayonne’s Tevita Tatafu and Pau’s Thomas Laclayat will bolster the tighthead side, all the more so as Régis Montagne is out with a neck problem.
Maxime Lucu, who had returned to action with UBB, has not been recalled, and neither have Gaël Fickou, Grégory Alldritt or Damian Penaud. In all likelihood, then, none of them will play a single match in the 2026 Six Nations.
