The Clermont staff are preparing for the arrival of Joe El Abd as head coach.
Frédéric Charrier will no longer be at Clermont next season. The backs and attack coach, who arrived in 2023 alongside Christophe Urios, confirmed on Tuesday in an interview with Rugbyrama that he would leave the club in June 2027, just as the ASM prepares for the arrival of Joe El Abd as head coach, confirmed on 7 October.
« The club’s decision was made recently », he explained, before adding: « I’m going to give everything until the end because I’m a competitor. » Charrier has worked alongside Urios since Oyonnax, in 2007, then at Castres and Bordeaux-Bègles.
Sorin, an unconfirmed lead
On the playing side, La Rochelle tighthead prop Karl Sorin has reportedly agreed to join Clermont for three seasons from 2027, running until June 2030, according to L’Équipe. Neither Clermont nor La Rochelle have confirmed the information. Aged 23 and out of contract with the Maritimes, he has played seven matches this season, five of them as a starter. Called up for the first time by Fabien Galthié among the 42 players named for the Nations Championship, he had to withdraw with a shoulder injury. Le Figaro reports surgery and an absence of three to four months.
