Adré Smith suspended… for one week. For stamping on Bayonne loosehead prop Swan Cormenier on Saturday with the Stormers in the Champions Cup, the lock has been suspended for a week.

“Smith accepted he had committed an act of foul play but did not accept that it warranted a red card in a statement. The independent disciplinary committee determined that the player was guilty of deliberately stamping on a player on the ground, and it upheld the red card. It determined that the offence fell at the low end of World Rugby’s sanctions scale and selected two weeks as the entry point“, the EPCR said.

His sanction was of course reduced thanks to the player’s remorse, his acceptance of his offence and his clean disciplinary record.
