The LNR published on Wednesday the average annual pay for every position in a Top 14 squad. It covers last season. With few surprises, fly-halves remain, by some distance, the best paid in the Top 14, ahead of tighthead locks (number 5s) and number 8s, while wings and blindside/openside flankers bring up the rear.

Top 14 fly-halves earn on average 343,000 euros, while number 5s and number 8s are on 302,000 and 296,000 euros respectively.

Scrum-halves take home 261,000 euros on average. The tighthead prop, long considered one of the most expensive positions because of the demand, now stands at 260,000 euros, just ahead of the full-back, on 251,000 euros.
