Roger, 26, has started twice at fly-half for the Pumas.
Vannes announced on Friday the signing of Nicolas Roger, a 26-year-old Argentinian fly-half, as an additional player until the end of the 2026-27 season. The club, then bottom of the Top 14, needed cover in a position without Pierre Popelin and Maxime Lafage, both sidelined with Achilles tendon injuries.
From South America to Italy
Born on 11 January 2000, Roger has played for Penarol in Super Rugby Americas, CUS Torino in Italy and then Tarucas in Argentina. He spent last season at Benetton in the URC.
Two starts for the Pumas
Roger has been named in an Argentina matchday squad five times since July 2025. On the bench for both Tests against England that summer, he started against Uruguay on 19 July 2025 (52-17), scoring a try and five conversions. In 2026 he came off the bench against Australia (21-27) before starting at fly-half against the Wallabies the following week (28-28). At Vannes he joins several compatriots, including captain Francisco Gorrissen.
