In response to the club’s decision to send the ASBH squad to Oyonnax on the morning of the match itself, supporters’ group “Les Brennus” have launched a fundraiser to pay for a hotel night for their players, to improve their preparation.
Faced with a controversial logistical choice by AS Béziers Hérault (Pro D2), their supporters have decided to act. With the club having scheduled its trip to Oyonnax (next Friday) for the morning of the match itself – a widely criticised decision – the group “Les Brennus” have launched an online fundraiser to pay for a hotel night before the game.
In a statement, the fans call the measure “incomprehensible and unacceptable“. In their view, it penalises both the players’ tactical preparation and their recovery. They therefore want to give the Béziers men a calmer setting in which to approach the 28 November fixture, round 12 of the championship.
The fundraiser, posted on Leetchi, aims to cover the accommodation costs for the whole squad. As things stand, it has already collected a few hundred euros from supporters’ donations. The surge reflects a wider unease behind the scenes: the club is indeed going through organisational difficulties, made worse, according to some, by contested decisions from the board.
But for “Les Brennus”, the move goes beyond a gesture of solidarity: it is above all a cry of alarm about the team’s living and preparation conditions, at a time when every detail can weigh heavily in the fight against relegation.
