Named man of the match last week against Fiji on his return in the France jersey, big “Charles” starts again against Australia on Saturday at the Stade de France (9.10pm), but in his usual position of flanker. Romain Ntamack, whose displays for France remain mixed, keeps his place at half-back alongside Maxime Lucu. Another Toulouse man, Kalvin Gourgues, who takes a seat on the bench, will make his first appearance for France. A doubt for a time, Oscar Jégou does keep his place.

Continuity it is. Or rather, the men in form right now. For this match, Gaël Fickou returns in the centre, replacing Pierre-Louis Barassi, who was knocked out last week, and partners Nicolas Depoortere, who caught the eye against Fiji (2 tries). A back line run by the Lucu-Ntamack half-back pairing, whose display last week ran hot and cold.

Also returning are Stade Toulousain locks Flament and Meafou. Ollivon therefore moves back to his usual flanker berth alongside Grégory Alldritt (captain) and Anthony Jelonch, the only forward to have played every minute of the first two tests. There are no other changes in the starting XV.

A doubt for a time, Oscar Jegou does keep his place on the finishers’ bench, which also features young Toulouse man Kalvin Gourgues, who will make his first appearance for France. Clermont’s Baptiste Jauneau is involved too.
