Sale hold on in London

The Sharks had a player sin-binned, Alex Lozowski in the 11th minute, then sent off, Jacques Vermeulen in the 18th, inside the first twenty minutes. They still scored three tries through Nathan Jibulu, Tom O’Flaherty and Ben Bamber, with George Ford kicking two conversions. Saracens also scored three tries, but Fergus Burke missed two conversions: the four-point margin earns the Londoners a losing bonus, and their first defeat of the season.

Bath keep Exeter at arm’s length

Exeter turned it round within ten minutes of the restart, with three converted tries including two from Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, to lead 31-26 in the 55th minute. A penalty try, with Stephen Varney sin-binned, and a Ted Hill try put the hosts back in front. Harvey Skinner’s late penalty gives Exeter a double bonus, but the Chiefs are still without a win.

Bristol see off Northampton

Louis Rees-Zammit scored twice and Bristol ran in five tries, plus a last-minute penalty try, against a Northampton side who finished with thirteen men after yellow cards for Ion Neculai and Tommy Freeman. George Hendy scored two tries for Saints, who take a try bonus.

Leicester get off the mark

Beaten by two points at home by Saracens in round one, the Tigers won 24-19 at Newcastle with three tries, including Samiuela Moli’s and Adam Radwan’s in the first half, and nine points from the boot of Billy Searle. Newcastle take a losing bonus.
