Only Northampton v Bristol (94-33), on the same pitch last May, has produced more points in the Premiership.

Fin Smith opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Bath matched Northampton blow for blow in the first half, driven by Finn Russell and two tries from back-rower Arthur Green. The visitors went in three points ahead (26-29), despite Josh Bayliss’s yellow card (26′).

45-19 in the second half

Northampton pulled away after the break. James Pater, Josh Kemeny, Alex Mitchell and Alex Coles all scored, and Sleightholme completed his hat-trick with two tries in four minutes (59′, 63′), while Bath were down to 14 after Ollie Lawrence’s yellow card (62′). Tommy Freeman, who scored twice, finished the run in the 76th minute.

Saints scored 11 tries to Bath’s seven. Fin Smith kicked eight conversions for a 21-point haul, Russell five conversions and a penalty.

A record for a losing side

Bath’s 48 points are the most by a beaten side in the Premiership since at least 2005-06. The previous highest losing total was 46, by Wasps at Harlequins (48-46) in May 2021. The match’s 119 points are the second-highest total in the league’s history, behind the 127 of Northampton v Bristol on 15 May 2026.
