The trial for the murder of the former Argentina rugby international Federico Martín Aramburú, shot dead in Paris in March 2022, will be held in September 2026, according to sources close to the case. Two far-right activists, Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier, have been charged with murder and will be tried over the death of the former Biarritz and Argentina player.
The events date back to the night of 19 March 2022. After a verbal altercation followed by a brief brawl in a bar on the boulevard Saint-Germain, Federico Aramburú, 42, was fatally shot as he made his way back to his hotel with a friend.

The investigation quickly led to the arrest of Loïk Le Priol, a former serviceman and far-right figure, detained in Hungary a few days after the events, and of Romain Bouvier, arrested in the Sarthe, both suspected of being the gunmen. A third person, Lyson Rochemir, Le Priol’s partner, suspected of having driven the jeep used by the attackers, was charged for a time before being released under judicial supervision.
The trial, keenly awaited by the victim’s family and by the rugby world, will be held before the Paris assize court. Prosecutors had called for a murder trial in August 2024.
