Nawaqanitawase could turn his back on the Wallabies

His agent is keeping every option open.

“Mark will not be available for international rugby this year,” his agent Milan Volavola-Shankar told Code Sports. The player informed Les Kiss in July, so he will miss the Wallabies’ November tour of the UK. In August 2027, at the end of his three-year stand-down period, he will be able to represent Fiji, through his father, or Italy.

11 Test caps

The 26-year-old has 11 caps for Australia, including four games at the 2023 World Cup. Since switching to league, he has scored 47 tries in 46 NRL games for the Roosters, including two in the 19-18 grand final win over Newcastle.

With his heritage making him eligible to represent both Italy and Fiji, he remains open to all options regarding his international future.
