International rugby is coming back to Lyon. EPCR confirmed on Thursday 24 April 2025 that the 2027 Champions Cup and Challenge Cup finals will be held at the Groupama Stadium, home of Olympique Lyonnais in Décines-Charpieu. An announcement that confirms the central place of the Lyon area in the European rugby landscape.

It will not be a first for the city: Lyon had already hosted these two finals in 2016. The stadium was also one of the stages of the 2023 World Cup, with memorable fixtures such as Wales – Australia, New Zealand – Italy and France – Italy.

“The current enthusiasm around French rugby is incredible”, said Dominic McKay, chairman of EPCR. An opinion shared by John Textor, president of Eagle Football Group and owner of the stadium: “Our whole community is looking forward to living through the incredible experiences of the Champions Cup and the Challenge Cup again”.

With this announcement, EPCR continue to capitalise on the momentum of rugby in France and to reward the commitment of the big host cities. The date is therefore set for 2027 in a Groupama Stadium that promises to be packed to the rafters.
