From Top 14 to the second regional division, that is the path Loann Goujon has chosen to take. Still a professional player with LOU a little over a year ago, the back-rower had decided to end his career at 35 at the close of the 2023-2024 season. But the call of rugby and of the heart eventually caught up with him.
“He is coming back to where it all began”
The former international, capped 17 times by France between 2015 and 2017 and also a former Clermont, La Rochelle and Bordeaux player, has answered the call of his first club, RC Combronde (Puy-de-Dôme), who play at the intermediate level of the regional divisions.
“Armed with rich experience gained in Top 14 and with France, he is coming back to where it all began, driven by the desire to pass things on, to share, and to give back to his club what it gave him”, was how the little Auvergne club celebrated on its Facebook page, delighted to be able to count on such a weighty addition for the coming season.
