Section Paloise are continuing to build their squad ahead of next season. On Friday, the Béarn club announced contract extensions for two scrum-halves: the experienced Thibault Daubagna and the young, promising Thomas Souverbie.

Both players have committed until 2029. For Daubagna, it is the logical next step. A Pau native, the France international (2 caps) has spent his entire career in the Béarn. Having come through the age-grade sides since 1999, he has known only one club in his life… And could well end his career at home.

Marta, first signing?

Souverbie is also a Pau native but began his development at Bizanos, one of the neighbouring clubs. The under-20 international made his first professional appearance in the 2023/2024 season but is starting to establish himself in the rotation this year (6 team sheets).

Pau therefore tie down two more players, after striking hard by extending Aaron Grandidier-Nkanang and the much-coveted Emilien Gailleton. At the same time, Rugby Pass reports that two backs short of game time are on their way out.

Wing-cum-full-back Aymeric Luc (28), formerly of Bayonne and Toulon, could leave the club at the end of the season. The same goes for centre Olivier Klemenczak (29), who came through at Soustons and made his name at Dax and then Racing 92.

The latter, hit by numerous physical problems, has not managed to get back to his best and will be looking for a fresh start elsewhere. Section Paloise could also soon confirm the arrival of versatile Portugal international Rodrigo Marta (Colomiers), according to various sources.
