Nothing is going right at Béziers. 12th in Pro D2 and thrashed last Friday at Dax (40-5), the club announced a staff reshuffle on Tuesday. Manager Rory Teague, who arrived last summer, is the first to pay the price.

The former UBB coach, among others, has been moved aside but will now be tasked with “working alongside the president and the board to identify incoming players”, the statement reads. Backs coach David Irazoqui therefore takes over and becomes head coach.

A next match under pressure

The same goes for Johnny Howard, a former club player who had become director of rugby. The ex-scrum-half switches roles and becomes director of “relations with local clubs”. In recent weeks, ASBH supporters have piled the pressure on the club after a run of poor performances.

That anger also comes in the wake of the sackings of Benjamin Bagate, the former director of sport, and Pierre Caillet, a manager well liked and still missed by a large section of the Béziers support. Friday’s home game against Colomiers (19:30) already looks pivotal.
