The blow is confirmed for Nicolas Depoortere. Injured in his right shoulder on the trip to Murrayfield, the Union Bordeaux-Bègles centre could be forced to undergo surgery, which would bring a premature end to his season.
According to information from our colleagues at L’Équipe, the 22-year-old has an injury serious enough to require surgery, following the first medical assessments. The Bordeaux staff and club are currently weighing up that option, which would mean several months out.

If the operation is confirmed, Depoortere would not play again this season for UBB, a blow for the Gironde club, not yet certain of a place in the Top 14 play-offs and still involved in the Champions Cup.
Regarded as one of the most promising centres of his generation, the young international had begun to settle gradually into the France rotation. He must still undergo further tests in the coming days to determine definitively whether an operation is needed and exactly how long he will be out.
