(At last) Some good news in the Puy-de-Dôme with the extension of their international wing. Aged 31, Alivereti Raka has been one of the Yellow and Blues’ core players since his arrival in the Auvergne. With close to 102 tries scored in 180 matches in the Clermont jersey, he has established himself as one of the most prolific finishers in the Top 14 and a centrepiece of the club’s attacking set-up.

Capped five times by France, the wing, originally from Nadroga (Fiji), has even made a place for himself alongside ASM’s greatest try scorers, among them Aurélien Rougerie and Napolioni Nalaga (a Fijian too).

Clermont, who are also preparing the next stage of their sporting project with several young talents and senior men extended, are banking on Raka’s experience and consistency to stay competitive in the championship and in the European Cup, where Clermont have not performed (as they should) for several seasons.

Alivereti Raka will therefore remain a major attacking asset for the Yellow and Blues for the next two seasons at least, bringing pace and power to a Clermont squad in search of collective success, one that has not finished evolving and taking shape.
