The Ligue nationale de rugby (LNR) has unveiled its detailed assessment of player development policies for the 2024-2025 season, with star ratings awarded to Top 14 and Pro D2 clubs across three areas: pre-academy, academy and life after rugby.
Top 14: Toulouse dominate, Paris and Perpignan struggling
Without much suspense, Stade Toulousain outrageously dominate the Top 14 rankings with five stars overall, excelling in particular in their academy (five stars) and on life after rugby (four stars).
UBB follow close behind with five stars overall, on the back of five stars for pre-academy and academy, while Stade Français Paris and USA Perpignan bring up the rear with two stars overall, penalised by low academy marks (two stars for Paris, one for Perpignan).
Clubs such as Clermont (four stars overall) and Racing 92 (three stars) sit solidly in mid-table. Bayonne, La Rochelle, Toulon and Montpellier are closing in on four stars.

Pro D2: Aurillac undisputed leaders
In Pro D2, Stade Aurillacois stand out as the perfect model with five stars overall, five for pre-academy and four for their academy. The Cataliens have been doing good work for years despite a very modest budget (second-bottom in Pro D2) but cannot hold on to some of their talents for long.
Colomiers and Grenoble complete the podium (four stars overall apiece), while Montauban, Dax and Valence-Romans are battling at the bottom of the table with just two stars overall.
