AJ Lam is on his way to France. The centre or wing (27) has signed with Clermont for the next three seasons. The announcement was made on Monday evening. The New Zealander arrives from the Auckland Blues.

“He is exactly the profile we were looking for, a player capable of winning collisions, getting over the gainline and breaking defences, but also blessed with very good hands that let him keep the ball alive and give it speed“, enthused Christophe Urios, the ASM manager.

With a profile in the George Moala mould (1.88m, 100 kg), the versatile three-quarter will bring pace and power to the Clermont back line.

The Lams, a family affair

AJ Lam will also enjoy a good connection with fly-half Harry Plummer. The two players spent a long time playing together for the Blues, notably at the heart of the attack.

Lam is the cousin of Seilala Lam, Clermont’s current hooker, and the younger brother of Ben Lam, formerly of UBB and Montpellier.
