A crisis on the… digital field. The FFR has been the victim of a cyberattack, which gave access to data concerning around 530,000 registered players. In a statement published on Tuesday, the FFR confirmed the information.

The compromised data is said to be essentially personal data: identity, contact details or information linked to the licence. At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that banking data or passwords have been exposed. A “pishing” campaign, the federation denounced.

Vigilance

In recent months, several French federations have faced comparable attacks. For its part, the federation is expected to strengthen its security systems and to work with the relevant authorities. Nearly a million photographs of players – some of them minors – are said to have been taken, along with identity cards and medical data. That is the claim being made by a hacker linked to the attack.

“The federation invites all its registered members and partners to exercise the greatest vigilance in the face of any unusual communication“, the FFR said.
