The belt-tightening is beginning at France Télévisions. Committed to a wide-ranging cost-cutting plan, the long-standing broadcaster, which shows the Six Nations exclusively, announced on Tuesday that it has sold nine matches from the 2026 Six Nations on to… TF1. “On an exceptional basis“, France Télévisions specifies. A bold call.

Two France matches, the one against Wales on 15 February and the one against Scotland on 7 March, are on the list. Note that those fixtures overlap with the Milan-Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Already the broadcaster of France’s autumn tour matches, TF1 are therefore taking the opportunity to pick up fixtures that always pull in big audiences.

The nine matches sold on to TF1:

7 February:
England – Wales (17:40)

14 February:
Ireland – Italy (15:10)
Scotland – England (17:40)

15 February:
Wales – France (16:10)

21 February:
England – Ireland (15:10)
Wales – Scotland (17:40)

7 March:
Scotland – France (15:10)
Italy – England (17:40)

14 March:
Ireland – Scotland (15:10)
