Pau are in luck. On Wednesday, the Béarn club announced the contract extension of manager Sébastien Piqueronies until 2031. His deal was due to run out in 2027.

Excellent news for a man who, since his arrival in 2021, has been one of the chief architects of Pau’s good seasons. This season, indeed, Section Paloise sit 2nd in the Top 14 and are well placed to qualify. The former France under-20 head coach has brought through numerous talents and continues to give game time to youngsters brimming with quality.

I am fortunate to work in an environment made up of directors with strong convictions. That alignment with the governance is one of the great strengths of our project. The trust of Bernard (Pontneau, the president, ed.), of Pierre (Lahore, the general manager, ed.) and of the governance team was a driver in my decision“, said a delighted Piqueronies.

Before adding: “While we can be pleased with the groundwork accomplished by the whole club over close to five years, we must now step up by reaching our objectives and asserting our ambition over the long term within an ever more demanding TOP 14. I am convinced I can lead a sustainable, human and ambitious project in a region where the fervour of the Béarnais keeps growing“.
