The Springboks could soon secure continuity in their coaching set-up: South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus is in advanced talks over a contract extension. According to statements from the South African camp, confirmation is expected shortly after the end of the current autumn tour in Europe.
The win over France confirmed plenty of certainties in South Africa. The general manager and head coach of the reigning back-to-back world champions, whose current contract runs until the 2027 World Cup in Australia, is reportedly close to signing an extension with the South African Rugby Union (SARU).

A source within the set-up has indicated that negotiations were progressing well and that a definitive announcement was planned as soon as the team have completed their November commitments. “We hope to finalise this after the tour,” that same South African federation source told Rapport, confirming SARU’s desire to hold on to the architect of its recent successes (a 72% win rate since the start of his second spell).
