Pau lose Etchebehere to knee surgery

Pau travel to Toulon on Saturday with a long injury list.

Scans after the 41-17 Champions Cup win over Leicester confirmed a serious knee sprain with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament. The club has not given a return date.

Eight missing at Toulon

For Saturday’s trip to Mayol, Pau will also be without Remi Couty, Nathan Decron, who had ankle surgery on Tuesday, Gabriel Elissalde, Reece Hewat, Jack Maddocks, Lucas Rey and Mehdi Tlili. Joe Simmonds and Joachim Senga-Kouo are back in training, while Thibault Daubagna is being rested.

Second in the Top 14

Pau, second in the league on 22 points, have not won a league game in Toulon since April 2006.
