Continuity, freshness, bold calls… Fabien Galthié and his staff have made their choices ahead of the second test of the November tour against Fiji this Saturday in Bordeaux (9.10pm). The first talking point is the return of Charles Ollivon… in the second row. The Toulon man will line up alongside the powerful Meafou. Flament drops out of the squad with a thigh problem.
In the back row, Grégory Alldritt, left out against the Springboks, returns and will even wear the captain’s armband. The La Rochelle man will be alongside Jelonch and Jegou, who reclaims a starting spot. Boudehent, for his part, slips to the bench.
Neti and Laclayat, replacement props
Worth noting in the front row: hooker Marchand and tighthead prop Montagne keep their places, while Gros, a replacement against the Boks, comes back in on the loosehead side. Behind, Maxime Lucu will be at scrum-half, replacing the injured Le Garrec. The Basque will be playing in his own back yard in Bordeaux and will line up alongside Romain Ntamack.
In the centre, no Gaël Fickou but another Bordeaux man: Nicolas Depoortère. He will partner Barassi. On the wings, UBB pair Penaud and Bielle-Biarrey are there, as is Ramos at full-back.
On the bench, however, there are several changes to note. Guillaume Cramont drops out of the squad, replaced by Bordeaux’s Maxime Lamothe. Toulouse loosehead prop Rodrigue Neti will win his first cap. Pau’s Thomas Laclayat replaces Dorian Aldegheri. Taofifenua, Auradou and Boudehent are the three other forwards named on the bench.
Scrum-half Baptiste Jauneau and utility back Emilien Gailleton complete the list and will come on during the game.
The France team: Ramos – Penaud, Barassi, Depoortère, Bielle-Biarrey – (fh) Ntamack, (sh) Lucu – Jegou, Alldritt (capt), Jelonch – Meafou, Ollivon – Montagne, Marchand, Gros
Replacements : Lamothe, Neti, Laclayat, R. Taofifenua, Auradou, Boudehent, Jauneau, Gailleton.
