Eight of the nine tries were scored by forwards.

Fly-half Billy Searle’s third-minute yellow card cost the Tigers: Jac Morgan and then loosehead Dian Bleuler, from a maul, scored for Gloucester, with Caolan Englefield’s conversions making it 14-0.

Leicester then scored 31 points in a row. Finn Carnduff, Joe Heyes and Jamie Blamire put the Tigers 21-14 up at the break. Welsh back-rower Aaron Wainwright scored his first Leicester try to secure the bonus point in the 50th minute, and Ollie Hassell-Collins, the only back to score all night, stretched the lead (38-21).

Two bonus points at the death

Gloucester refused to go away. Will Trenholm had narrowed the gap after an hour, then Jack Innard scored a fourth try from a maul in the 80th minute for the try bonus. George Barton converted so quickly that a second remained on the clock, and the final play earned Gloucester a penalty, which Barton kicked to get within seven. The Cherry and Whites leave with two bonus points and stay top.

For Leicester, it is a second straight win.
