Faith is being placed in the youngsters. After Tiaan Jacobs and Adrien Drault, it is fly-half Joseph Laharrague’s turn to extend his contract at UBB. The announcement was made official on Wednesday on social media.

The 19-year-old will wear the Gironde club’s jersey until 2028. This season, the son of former international Julien Laharrague (12 caps between 2005 and 2007) has played seven Top 14 matches, one of them as a starter.

A French champion with the Espoirs last season, the fly-half fully intends to earn his place in the UBB squad. And the coaching staff are counting on him. While Hugo Reus is expected to arrive next season, Laharrague will have a part to play in covering for Matthieu Jalibert when he is unavailable.

Joey Carbery, who arrived with an interesting CV, has clearly not convinced. Much like his compatriot Ian Madigan a few seasons ago. In Laharrague, UBB have an interesting option.
