Baptiste Jauneau’s future (21) may finally be settled. Holding their breath since the start of the summer, Clermont supporters could be about to breathe a little easier as Midi Olympique reported on Wednesday that the international scrum-half (2 caps) has decided to extend his adventure at ASM. Out of contract in June 2026, the Béarn native would now be committed to Auvergne until 2028, with an additional year in option on top.

Toulon had gone on the offensive

Excellent news in prospect for the Clermont institution, which qualified for the play-offs last season, and for manager Christophe Urios, who has made him a genuine mainstay of his starting XV. Leading outfits had pencilled in his name, Toulon among them, who saw in him the successor to Baptiste Serin, also out of contract next June (he has an optional year).

Note that even if the Jauneau case is resolved positively, Clermont will not be able to close the scrum-half file for all that, since his understudy, former Toulouse man Sébastien Bézy (33), also sees his deal expire at the end of the coming season.
